China’s First Small Scale Gold Standard project
Emissions Zero is proud to offer credits from China’s first small scale Gold Standard hydro project, the Nanyangshan hydro power plant, located in Gansu Province. The project will bring substantial environmental, social and economic benefits to Linxia prefecture, the village in which it was built. The area is one of the poorest in China with residents earning an average annual income of 2000 RMB (approximately 292 USD).
Registered under the Gold Standard, the Nanyangshan project was verified under the world’s top third party verification. Gold Standard status ensures not only that the emissions reductions created by the project are real and quantifiable but also that the project brings substantial sustainable development benefits to the local area, such as improved local environment, improved standard of living, job opportunities and infrastructure developments.
