Local Environmental Benefits Clean energy projects lead to environment benefits at the local level. Our clean energy projects replace fossil-fuel fired energy power plants which not only emit climate change inducing CO2 emissions, but also contribute to local air pollution. Some projects, such as landfill gas methane capture projects, improve the local environment my turning odorous methane into usable power.
Social and Economic Benefits
Our projects also bring significant economic and social improvements to communities. Many of our projects are located in the poorest, most remote areas of China. Projects create jobs and build roads that connect formerly inaccessible villages to the outside world, improving local residents’ ability to sell products and make an income. More emission reductions projects built in the developing world result in economies of scale for the production of green technologies (such as wind turbines, solar panels and hydro equipment manufacturing). Economies of scale facilitate lower building and operating costs for future projects. Eventually, these types of projects will no longer require carbon finance and will become standard practice.
